Episode #234: 5 Ways You're Sabotaging Your Organisation

On 17 January 1944, the Office of the Strategic Services of the CIA issued the Simple Sabotage Field Manual. The manual remained classified for decades, becoming declassified in 2008.

The purpose of the manual was to present suggestions for inciting and executing sabotage.

The manual is full of 1940s references such as ā€˜axis nationalsā€™, the latter no doubt falling victim to many of the manualā€™s methods.

The manual breaks methods down into a number of categories such as Buildings, Manufacturing and Organisations. For example, on Buildings it states: whenever possible, arrange to have a fire start after you have gone away").

Whatā€™s striking about this section of the manual is its section on Interference with Organisations. Their suggested methods sound a lot of the dated management practices that plague large organisations today.

In this episode of Fast Fix Friday Iā€™m going to read out 5 ways you might be sabotaging your organisation.
